We also read as many owner reviews as we could, although steam mop reviews on Amazon are heavily influenced by reviewers provided with free samples by a few companies. Reviewers also often fail to specify the type of floors they are cleaning, or suggest uses for their mop that most people should avoid.

While steam is flowing, we felt a slight, intermittent vibration in the handle of the PowerFresh. It was helpful in some way to know when the mop had steam (since it lacks a warm-up/cool-down light), but it could be annoying to some with longer cleaning jobs.

The Bissell PowerFresh Deluxe is an impressively effective steam mop with a 474ml capacity water tank with a 1-inch opening and a 25-foot cord. It comes with two mop pads that attach with elastic and a scrubbing brush. It has no hose or additional attachments.

During standard cleaning, the PowerFresh Deluxe provides nice, even steam that easily cuts through everyday messes. Its mop head glides nicely across evenly textured tile and doesn't get caught on deep grout grooves. The zig-zag pattern on the head provides just the right amount of scrubbing power without being too harsh. When you need a little extra oomph to your scrubbing, a step lever easily detaches the mop head from the end, leaving you with a large stiff-bristled scrubbing pad to dig into stubborn messes and caked-on dirt. Snapping the mop head back into place is just as simple, allowing you to seamlessly transition from mopping to scrubbing and back again.

A particularly smooth, thick mop pad along with excellent steam power allows the PowerFresh Deluxe to glide over every surface easily. Able to tackle more than just smooth tile, this steamy contender also cleaned stone and ceramic without any issues. The trapezoidal shape, low profile of the cleaning head, and ability to pivot in every direction make it simple to get into tight corners and under the edges of low kitchen cabinets. The steam distribution was even enough that these hard-to-reach places consistently got clean. The Deluxe also has one of the longest power cords of any of the models we tested, measuring 25 feet.

The PowerFresh Deluxe is somewhat spartan when it comes to extra features. It doesn't include any additional mop heads (though it does have a coarser scrubbing pad). It also doesn't have a hose or any of the accessories that would come with one (like attachments to clean your stovetop or shower). It does have that scrubbing brush that we love so much, and you can adjust the steam level, but that's about it. This was still enough to earn the PowerFresh Deluxe a slightly above average score in this metric, as most mops have few if any extra features.

Bissell is known for its floor care cleaning products, and this is another one of its more popular steam mops. Does the PowerFresh steam mop have what it takes to pass the Modern Castle tests?

DESIGN As noted above, the PowerFresh steam mop stands up like a stick vacuum. The handle feeds into the body of the unit, which is also connected to the head of the mop. Along the body are the water tank and steam power mode button.

STEAM MODES Three different steam modes are offered by this mop; low, medium, and high. Each increase in steam setting simply means more water is being used to create a larger, more powerful amount of steam.

SCRUBBING BRUSH Users also have the option of flipping down the small scrubbing brush that sits at the back of the cleaning head. This brush works to agitate stuck on stains after the steam has made a pass over them.

Cleaning Pad: Two microfiber cleaning pads are included with this steam mop. One of the pads is a soft pad while the other is a scrubby pad. Both cleaning pads are washable and reusable. These pads also include an elastic band around the edge of the pad, which helps them to stay on the cleaning head of the PowerFresh.

Carpet Glider: A carpet glider is also included. The carpet glider can be attached to the bottom of the Bissell PowerFresh to help the mop smoothly glide across carpets when steam cleaning.

Spring Breeze tablets: Two small fragrance discs are included with the purchase of the PowerFresh steam mop. These tablets can be inserted into a small pocket within the cleaning pad for an extra fresh scent when mopping your floors.

Each of these debris types offer a different level of stickiness and consistency, allowing us to test the Bissell PowerFresh steam mop against a light, heavy, and liquid substance. All three debris types are spread across our testing lane in three separate sections

The Bissell PowerFresh steam mop did an excellent job with regard to our cleaning tests. The following sections offer a more in-depth look at how each debris type matched up against the PowerFresh.

The honey cleaning test was also quite successful. After adjusting the steam level of the mop, it was able to clean up almost all of the honey. The only problem we noticed was a small remainder of sticky residue left on our tile floor testing lane.

FILL TANK As you get ready to use the steam mop, you will have to remove the water tank and fill it up. The tank can be removed by pulling straight up on it. From there, the cap unscrews and water can be placed inside of the tank from any faucet.

FLAT LAY An added bonus, this steam mop is able to lie virtually flat on the ground. This gives users an advantage as they try to clean under obstacles around their home.

MOVEMENT EASE Initially, I found the Bissell PowerFresh to be somewhat tough to push. Yet, after the steam began to pump through the cleaning pad, the movement became much easier to manage.

The overall weight (6 pounds) of this unit is easy to manage. Therefore, it really depends on whether or not the steam is being pushed through the pad that determines how difficult this unit is to move.

Throughout our cleaning tests, the PowerFresh performed quite well. The only issue we saw was the amount of liquid it could handle. Although the mop was able to soak up a decent amount, it began to spread the remaining liquid, as the pad became fully soaked. Aside from this, mud and honey were no match for this Bissell steam mop.

To recommend the best steam mops to you, we did some extensive research, which included looking at some steam mop reviews of 2022, different features of each steam mop, and overall product quality. Here are some of the best steam mops you can buy online right now.

This full-featured steam mop from Shark comes with a number of useful accessories as well as a 500-milliliter reservoir. Its two-in-one design lets you detach the steamer from the stick and deep clean by hand on hard-to-reach or above-floor surfaces.

Included in the box are various Dirt Grip pads, a fill flask, a triangle scrubber, and other useful tools. Most reviewers love how easy it is to use, though some shoppers are underwhelmed by the results they get with steam mops in general.

This steam cleaner from McCulloch has over 5,500 five-star ratings on Amazon alone. It offers chemical-free cleaning in a 13-pound package, and can handle most surfaces and flooring types in your home, garage, or vehicle. The power cord can reach up to 18 feet, on top of the 10-foot hose, and it includes 23 handy cleaning accessories.

There are a few things to consider before purchasing a steam mop, such as the length of the cord it comes with, how many ounces of distilled water the tank can hold, if there is a warranty on the product, and how much it weighs.

Unlike regular mops, which use different floor cleaning agents to clean and laminate floors, a steam mop simply produces steam to clean different types of floors and hard-to-reach surfaces. Therefore, instead of having to use harsh chemicals on your floors, all you need is some heated water.

Steam mops are especially good for people with allergies and those who are sensitive to harsh cleaning chemicals and fragrances. Steam mops work by heating water in a reservoir or tank to about 250 degrees Fahrenheit. The hot steam travels to a microfiber pad through one or many jets that dampen the pad. The combination of steam and damp pad help moisten and break up dirt and dust from flooring. This way, you get a deep clean for your surfaces using water alone.

Because steam mops get so hot, they can also sanitize your surfaces by eliminating germs, bacteria, dust mites and even fleas. This, and the lack of chemicals and residues, can make steam mops perfect for families with young children who spend a lot of time on the floor. A steam mop can also help prolong the life of your grouted flooring by loosening dirt, soap, mold and other gunk so they can more easily be scrubbed away. 041b061a72
